Some words on this formidable cat

Why I chose this cat ? For its wild look and its golden character

Its look

Standard LOOF : general Description

The Norwegian called also the Norwegian forests cat or Skogkatt, is a big cat native of Scandinavia. It adapted itself to the very rough climate of these regions by developing a particularly dense and waterproof(impervious) fur, as well as an importing(mattering) size (up to 7 kg for males(mates) and between 4 and 5 kg for females). The head is triangular with a powerful jaw, its rather long body is very muscular. Plentiful one ruffle frames(supervises) the head and gives to this race a very particular air(sight).

Recognized colours : all the colours are recognized, except Colour Point, Chocolate, Lilac, Cinnamon, Fawn.
Head : of average size, the head forms an equilateral triangle. The forehead(front), slightly rounded off, is followed by a straight nose, without incurvation nor stop.

Snout : the snout follows the lines of the head, without pinch. The chin is firm.

Eyes : big, in almond(kernel), eyes are slightly placed in oblique and give to the cat an alert and awakened expression.

Ears : of average size in big, ears are opened well to the base, slightly sharp in the rear and placed in the continuation of the triangle. Seen by profile, they are steered forwards.  " Lynx Tips» are desirable but not compulsory. The internal fur of the ears extends up to the external corner(place) of these.

Neckline : developed the muscle well, the neckline is of average size.

Body : of long and substantial size(format), the body is rather long and massive, with a sturdy skeleton and a full and wide breast.

Paws : arather high with regard to the body, they are very muscular and have a solid skeleton. Seen by the back, paws are parallel. The later(posterior) are higher than the previous.

Feet : big and round, they have bundles of hairs between fingers.

Tail : long, thick on the base and supplied well, she(it) is ideally so long as the body, that is she can go back up(raise) up to shoulders.

Dress and texture : the dress is double. She(it) is established(constituted) by a woolly sub-hair giving an impression(printing) of heaviness and depth covered by long waterproof(impervious) and gleaming hairs of coverage. The hair of coverage is of an a little bit oily texture. He(it) is shorter on shoulders and goes by lengthening(by stretching out) gradually.
The ruffle consists of long favourites(whiskers) who leave the back of ears and very supplied crop. Breeches are voluminous. The ruffle and the breeches consist of woolly hair only.
The length of the fur and the density of the sub-hair vary with the seasons and a sharply shorter dress in summer must not be punished in judgment. The hair of coverage does not develop before the age of six months to kittens. The quality of the fur is much more important than the colour.

Its character

The Norwegian is a " cool " and well-balanced companion. It is the sweetest and the most affectionate big cats. It is very close to his boss, it is one truth limps in purring.

It is very sociable, he likes the children and agrees to share its house with his brothers or with dogs.

It is the big sportsman who likes climbing on trees, wading in the kitchen sink and rolling about in the snow.
